<s>Dear Cori,

This is it, Cori. This is all that there is; I know it’s hard. I hope that by the time you’ve gotten this letter, you’ve started to move on, but maybe that’s too much to ask. I know that’s the problem with eternity. Mundies have it much easier, as if they don’t take as long to get over things.

But if it means anything to you.

I love you more than I’ve ever loved anything. I was never really very sexual, and I still don’t consider myself very sexual, because there’s only one person I really ever have sex with. You open me up, you see me whole. You appreciate the fighter and the musician and you know, you’ve always known, that despite the fact that I don’t want this war, that I had to go. And most importantly, you’re satisfied with the office clerk in me, the boy who never was good at love or glory or passion. You’re satisfied with that, and that is the greatest gift you could ever give me.

So I can only give you everything of me.

It’s very late, while I’m writing this. It’s very quiet in the house, and you’re fast asleep. I’m crying because I can’t bear to think of how lonely you’ll be. I don’t want you to be lonely, Cori.

I said if you ever treated me badly I’d put you in the doghouse; and I still adhere to that. But you’ve been the most loyal and loving nightmare I’ve ever known (nevermind you’re the only nightmare I’ve ever known) and with the exception of a few rare instances of your brilliant idiocy, I’ve never wanted you out of my life.

I will remember you forever. Even if I die at war, even if I cannot dream, even if I live until the sun dies, I will remember you.

You’ve put part of me at peace, and I will always be with you.

After this letter, there isn’t much left to keep you engaged, but I hope that hunting for them, looking for them has kept you from being miserable. Please try and be okay, Cori. Let someone else in. Friendship can only help.

Love,

Boy Blue</s>

I despise you.

[ooc: Strikeouts NOT there. Thing from Constantine dead buried in the middle of the street, except it's not quite real so he's even more pissed!
So you want to play the gossip game?

A good quarter of you will get killed. You'll underestimate someone or something and find yourself without your head. But 99.9% of you will come back from the dead a day later. Half of you will figure out this is a great way to explore suicide-by-cop. A lot of you forget, once you die here you don't get to leave.

One third of you don't want to fucking leave anyway. You've found a place you can call home where you can do what you want when you want and without anyone to tell you otherwise. Scratch that, people here take advantage of free speech on a daily basis. They'll tell you what they think you should do. But you don't have to listen and hell, you could always kill them. Or fuck them.

If your worst enemy lives here, there's a 50/50 chance you will have fucked them at least once during your stay. There's a 70/30 chance you'll reach second base and kissing them is practically City tradition, whether they're male or female.

But only 10% of you are tried and true homosexuals. The majority of you are bisexual, and if you're not you can bet your ass the City will make you try it as some point.

Most of you won't leave this place a virgin but that's okay. The probability of you getting laid here is 5x the probability of you getting laid in your homeworld. It's a given. Seriously. Still none of you will admit you masturbate.

None of you will admit you elected Seras Victoria for her tits.

Today's Playlist:
"Somebody Told Me" The Killers
"I Kissed A Girl" Katy Perry
"A Man Inside My Mouth" The Cure
"Institutionalized" Suicidal Tendencies
"Back from the Dead" House of Pain

[ooc: Mod-approved!
Did you know behavior is the result of two different forces, one invariant and the other a finely textured elaboration? You interpret the latter as your freedom of choice, your ability to respond in an intelligent and judicious manner. You govern it by your perception of each circumstance and its conditions.

The biological direction in love and hate is the same. Hate's the attractive force of love, deflected or reflected. You the subject are drawn towards the object, but equally repelled, inhibited, or stopped. You the subject are caught in the destructive intent of hate. It's attraction, but the physical response turns what would otherwise be love, into hate. One biological direction pushes fear and anger. It's repulsion or retreat. After you take circumstance and judgment into account, what could be your fear could become your anger. Fear powers the physical approach of attack. If the only escape route's through danger, nature takes that direction with an angry tooth and nail.

Thought's the mental process that reserves judgment and resolves problems. Thought's hallmark is equitability. It's this problem resolving ability in you that determines your worth to humanity. Whether you sense emotion in others or yourself, it plays out on a stage of awareness. The procedure's virtually invisible, but you're aware that in thinking, something is taking place, even when you've reached a conundrum. Emotional displays provide a window over the process of your thought, if you care to read it, because the anatomy of emotion maps your thought.

You can see through that window and it presents you the challenge to recreate not just the likeness of your physical self but also the very intelligence that constitutes your inner essential nature. In art, the task isn't to carve a living figure; it's to carve a figure who expresses the capability of forming learned decisions and responses as you do, it's to carve a figure who behaves as you do.

Behavior and emotion is a river that follows a path governed by topographical circumstance. It sends a current in one direction then sends it in another. What've we learned from behavioral reversals and emotional extremes, where our biological directions push from one end of the spectrum to the other? Maybe it's an exercise in self-reflection. Maybe it's an exercise in choice. And for what?

You'd think this City was one big roleplaying game.

Today's Playlist:
"Human Behavior" Björk
"People Are People" Depeche Mode
"Girls and Boys" Blur
"Opposites Attract" Paula Abdul
"Angry Johnny" Poe

[ooc: Mod-approved! Matthew tells Morpheus "But boss, I don't like him." to which Cori replies "Why don't you like me?" His brief concern about this at (re)birth is something I've interpreted as the Corinthian really doesn't believe people could, would, or should dislike him without good reason. He finds it questionable that Matt didn't like him when they'd only just met. Of course later on Cori does give Matt good reason not to like him anyway!

The Dreaming | Souvenirs: Page 1, Page 2, Page 3
The Corinthian has feelings. Sort of. This arc really establishes his wanting to get away from his past by defining the 1st Corinthian as a completely different person. As you can see he's kind of sensitive about these accusations. It's never established in canon if this is true or not but he continues to have trouble differentiating between his memories and the 1st Corinthian's memories all the way to the end of The Dreaming. Cori also acknowledges that his function is extremely necessary for all dreamers, especially in the case of Gabriel Ashe. I scanned Part 1 and uploaded here: http://anagura.net/jazzmessenger/Souvenirspt1.zip Parts 2 and 3 will follow, I swear it!

The Dreaming | Exiles: Page 1, Page 2
The Corinthian has a boyfriend. Sila is the only official boyfriend we see in canon, though Cori himself hints at other experiences. Yes Sila works as a female impersonator. These pages are from #52 out of #60 for The Dreaming, and the reason why he's on earth with human eyes is the direct result of a mishap with Matthew that Pel is free to spoil at will. Anyway as the narration says, they had sex the first night they met. Cori was lost and lonely and needed a diversion, Sila was it. Sila had no idea who or what Cori used to be, but Sila stays by his side. What started as a sexual arrangement turned into an actual relationship, and "baby" is canon. //uh spoiler not that the series is good enough to warrant blinking warnings//Unfortunately Sila dies because of his attachment to the Corinthian//end spoiler.

So with that background in mind, and because of his PHAIL at relationships with humans, Cori became attached to Constantine. That started out as a sexual arrangement as well that became a mildly dysfunctional relationship. The easiest way to summarize the John situation, which is an influence on the Blue situation, is to use bullets!

♦ the 1st Corinthian had a fascination with the Constantine family (established in The Sandman Presents: The Corinthian), this somewhat bled over into the 2nd Corinthian
♦ John Constantine =/= most mortals, maybe two wrongs can make a right
♦ John Constantine has a reputation and looks great as a notch on one's bed post (many ex-girlfriends and boyfriends beg to differ)

Even Cori felt their relationship was ultimately shallow and built on desperation despite everything they'd been through. He was banking on the flame burning out within 2 years at the latest, but it really wounded him when John left. As demonstrated in the linked pages, Cori has a habit of closing himself off and trying to start "from scratch" after facing hardship. His idea of starting from scratch has a tendency to start with his dick.

Enter Boy Blue of Fables Fame and Homelands Heroics. Cori's intention had always been to get Blue in the sack. He was attracted to Blue purely for his looks and a particular way with his demeanor that Cori's sexual radar picked up as <blink>"Ass virgin!"</blink> Blue also had no idea who the Corinthian was or who John Constantine was, big plus. After talking to Blue several times Cori also picked up on Blue's emotional emphasis on anything sexual. Because of that, Blue made Cori work for it, and while it took only two weeks for Cori to score that still is a long time in his book, and thus an "admirable" effort. Cori was looking for someone who would react to him. Prior to Blue he had a string of one night stands, all of them performed in a way where both parties knew it was only for the sex. Deep down Cori knew he didn't want discrete indifferent sex, so he pursued Blue.

He's completely aware that it was selfish of him to want someone like Blue purely for the feeling of being attached and admired, whether it was over musical prowess or physical prowess. He's learned since then that Blue is no pushover, and Cori admires this trait as well because while pushovers are easy to manipulate, they just aren't very good company. As shown through his relationship with Matthew, it's not that Cori dislikes the presence of people, he just prefers the presence of people who understand him. Blue quickly became one of those people and Cori became one of those people to Blue. They maintain similarities and differences that compliment each other in a way that satisfies their own needs while keeping the other happy, most of the time! There's a chemistry between them that really gets Cori's motor running. Blue's intuition was active even before they decided to take their relationship to a serious level. Blue'd learned about Constantine earlier on and knew there was a chance that he was only Cori's rebound relationship. Blue also held it out when Cori pulled a stupid and asked Blue to "See other people." It's stuff like that that makes Cori want to see Blue happy at any cost, because Blue gave him a chance. The emphasis on chances is tied to his relationship with Daniel!Dream, who chose to exile him to humanity over the Matthew incident, rather than uncreate Cori. The Blue situation is less severe but no less meaningful to him.

There are several other things I could list that Cori adores about Blue but tl;dr is already tl;dr @D@ All of the above is the basic root of their relationship in a not quite nutshell.

One of my fav panels by the way.

There must be something about the orchestral quality of concert music that draws out the wartime comparisons. But let me give you the hard and dirty truth.

How do you know that you have a brass section at your door?
Nobody knows when to come in.

What do you call perfect pitch in an oboe?
In the dumpster, without hitting the side.

What's the similarity between a percussionist and a philosopher?
They both perceive time as an abstract concept.

You see a conductor and a violinist crossing the road. You can hit only one. Which do you hit?
The conductor; business before pleasure.

What do a singer and a terrorist have in common?
They both destroy the bridge.

Visual Guide to the playlist for anyone born before 1939

Today's Playlist:
"I Shot the Sheriff" Bob Marley
"Where It's At" Beck
"Bullet with Butterfly Wings" Smashing Pumpkins
"Peaches" The Presidents of the United States of America
"Party Up (Up in Here)" DMX

[ooc: Mod-approved! Songs are played between bits of dialogue. As far as the radio host is concerned, Cori's speaking anonymously and that applies to the written transcriptions on his LJ. It's just easier and more efficient to put them here instead of creating a 'ghost' account. So please consider Radio Entries as anonymous and any spam (text or voice, up to you) here will be answered by anonymous.
